Frequently Asked Questions

What to expect from a handmade kilim?

Each piece is woven by hand, so small differences in size, alignment, and color tone are normal. These variations are part of the character and not defects.

Is a wool kilim soft underfoot?

Yes. Natural wool feels structured at first and becomes softer with regular use while staying breathable and comfortable for daily walking.

Does this kilim shed?

No ongoing shedding. Because it is flatwoven, it does not continuously release fibers like thick pile rugs

Is it good for high-traffic areas?

Yes. The flat weave makes it stable and durable, suitable for living rooms, dining spaces, and apartments.

Will the colors fade?

Wool holds dye well and resists fading under normal indoor lighting. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve tones longer.

How do I clean a kilim rug?

Vacuum regularly and blot spills with mild soap and water. Avoid soaking. Occasional professional cleaning is recommended.

What materials is it made from?

Natural sheep wool and Egyptian cotton.

Where is it made?

Handwoven in Egypt using traditional loom techniques.

Can I order a custom size?

Yes. Custom sizing is available to fit specific spaces such as hallways, under dining tables, or wall installations. Production time varies depending on size.

Are wall hangings made in the same place?

Our rugs are woven in Egypt, while wall hangings are made in Canada.

Do you outsource designs?

No. All patterns are created in-house and produced exclusively for our collection.

Can I see the colors before ordering?

Yes. Yarn samples are available so you can check tone and texture in your space before committing to a full piece.
